ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY’S. “A BIT OP KINDLING.” Jackie Saunders has only once been shown in Palmerston North in pictures and on that occasion created a favourable impression. In “A Bit of Kindling-,” to be shown to-night at Everybody’s she acts the first act as a newsgirl who has to hold her own corner stand against the tough young boys in her profession. On one occasion she sees a favourite customer of hers being attacked by foot-pads and when she takes a hand gets knocked out. When she waked up she finds herself on a baggage car with the wealthv young man whom she had tried to befriend. How the lives of these two who are in totally different social spheres x un together to the ultimate accompaniment of wedding bells is subject matter for a good photoplay. A comedy, a Topical and a scenic will also bo shown. ROSY. “ROUGH NECK” (Montague Love). “The Rough Neck,” a new World Film dramatic feature production, is 'described as “a bang-up, fast-moving melodrama, packed full of action, surprises and thrills, and with a manscrap in it that has not been equalled anywhere for willingness and punch. It is a picture quite out of the ordinary, with a unique love motif and an unusually good role for the hero, played by Montague Love, who appears as the rough-neck of the story. In his methods of wooing Masters, the hero, shows that there are more ways of winning a woman than by buying her chocolates and treating her like a piece of egg-shell china. Good dramas have been scarce lately, but the Rough Neck makes up for it in more ways than one. A Mack Sennett two-reel comedy, a "Vitagraph comedy and two Topicals also to be shown. PALACE. “BONDS OF HONOUR” (Hayakawa) “CAPT. KIDD, Jnr.” (Pickford). The story of “Bonds of Honour” is as follows: —Yamashito and Sasarnoto are twin brothers, sons of a Japanese Count, high in the confidence of his country. Yamashito is studious and helpful to his father, but Sasarnoto’s escapades bring him into the meshes of the German secret agents, and he delivers to them the plans entrusted to his father. He is discovered returning the documents and is expected to clear his name of stain through Harikari. But Sasamoto prefers life, and escapes to Russia. Yamashito offers his life in his brother’s stead, but is told to follow Sasamoto to. Russia and bring him to justice. Through his resemblance to his brother he exposes the spies, and Sasamoto at last atones in the Japanese fashion, leaving his brother free |to marry the girl they both have loved. "Capt. Kidd, Jnr.,” the other picture showing, is a Paramount-Art - craft film featuring Mary Pickford in the role of a little Scotch book-seller who by chance comes into possession of the plans/of some hidden treasure. How she becomes a swashbuckler to good purpose makes this one of the ■delightful Mary’s best pictures with Paramount.
