BAPTIST CHURCH.

The annual anniversary services were held last Sunday, when the Rev. T. Keith Ewen, of Berhampore, preached. The inclement weather marred the morning service somewhat. In the evening, however, a good congregation gathered and enjoyed to the full a most inspiring address. A special anthem by the choir and a solo, "Man of Sorrows," sung by Miss Collon, were most effectively rendered. The anniversary social was held on Wednesday evening, when a goodly number listened with delight to an excellent musical programme, which consisted of solos, recitations, and anthems by the choir. The secretary reported a year of good work in every branch of the church's activities. Eight conversions had been recorded during the year. Despite loss by death and removals to other districts, the membership had increased from 82 to 97. The ministrations of the pastor, the Rev. C. W. Duncumb, both in the pulpit and as visitor, were spoken of in most appreciative terms. The treasurer, Mr F. Grover, reported a record financial year, £54 8 having been raised from all sourses, it being especially worthy of note that large sums had been raised during the year for outside purposes — for foreign missions £6 2. home missions £2 7, Manurewa children's home £2G.
