NKWTON KING'S REPORT. At Douglas on 31st May: Lambs 17/ to 23/, store cows £6, pedigree Jersey bull 25gns, dairy cows £l4, IT> 10/, £lB. At T'ruti on the same day a good yarding- of both sheep and cattle came forward. Sheep sold with a firm tone throughout. Cattle on the other hand with the exception of dairy stock proving hard to quit. Prices:—Ewes in lamb 28/9, 2 and 4-th wethers 32/1, do. 2, 4 and 6-th 26/6, 32/8, f.m. ewes 16/, lambs 11/3, 18/1, ewes (lambs) 19/ S. mixed weaners £2 7/(1. 20-month steers £4 5/, £4 12f(5, in calf heifers £B, £9 10/, £ll. 2J-year Jersey do. £l7 10/, dairy cows £l2, £ls, £l7 10/, £2O. At Stratford Oh the Ist June sheep were yarded in fair numbers and generally speaking sold well. A small entry of cattle sold at late rates. Ewes in lamb 13/9 to 21/10, wethers 26/, lambs 21/, mixed weaner heifers £3 1/ to £3 10/, Jersey weaner heifers £3 13/, £4 19/6, £5 15/, better quality do. £8 10/. store cows £4 5/, £5, £6 15/. At Stratford dairy yards on the same day a nice line of 2-year Jersey heifers, on account of Mr W. Edwards, sold at various prices up to £l7 5/ according to quality. Average quality cows realised from £l2 to £2O, a herd of 40 averaging £l4. Prices:— Springing heifers £9, £l2, £-13, better quality do. £l6 to £l7 5/, dairy cows £9, £l3 10/, £lB 10/, £2O. At Inglewood on 2nd June, I report a full yarding of both sheep and cattle. The former class sold readily, hoggets especially selling with a much firmer tone. Cattle sold at late rates throughout, practically a full clearance being made. Lambs 12/9, 18/6, 18/8, empty ewes 18/6, 19/, in lamb ewes 14/6, 2 and 4-th wethers 27/, mixed weaner heifers £2 1/, £3 12/, £3 17/. £4 2/, Jersey weaner heifer £4 17/6, mixed weaner steers 21/, 25/, £2 2/, store cows £3 10/ to £5 15/, 20-month steers £4 6/, bullocks £7 15/, £ll, bulls £6 7/6, £6 17/6, in calf heifers £7 17/6, £B, £lO 5/. There was a fair demand for dairy cattle, although no extra high prices were obtained, a herd selling at prices ranging mostly from £lO to £ls. A few good cows made from £l6 to £25. The condition on the whole was poor. At Waitara on the sth inst., I conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr 1). George, everything being quitted satisfactorily. 36 dairy cows averaged £l4, top prices ranging from £lB 10/ to £22, bull £B, sows in pig £ll, £ll 15/. £l2 5/, 9-year mare £2l, 7-year gelding £lO, £l2; sundries and implements realised good prices. On account of other vendors: Jersey springing heifers £2O, £23, springing cows £l2 10/, £l7, Jersey do. £l7, £3O. At Kaponka on the same day a, fair yarding sold at late rates throughout. Mixed weaner heifers 36/, £2 2/, £3 7/, weaner bulls 31/, weaner Jersey heifer £5 2/6, bull £3 7/6, store cows £4 12/6, £5 2/6, £6, forward cows £8 10/, £8 15/, £9. At Rahotu on the same day: Mixed weaner steers 31/6 to £2 10/, weaner Jersey heifer £B, store cows £3 10/, £5, £5 7/6, in calf heifers £fk 4/.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having- held a successful clearing sale on account of Mr A. W. Edwards, Bunnythorpe, on Monday, 7th June, 1920: —There was ai"very fair attendance and following 1 are quotations:—Backward and aged cows £7 to £lO, medium cows £l3, £l3 10/ to £ls, very fair cows £ls 15/, £l6 10/, £lB 5/ to £lB 10/, best cows to £27, dray £ls, harness £ll 15/, s.f. plough £ll, roller £l7, pony, gig and harness £3O.
