Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for all events at the Easter meeting of the Feilding Jockey Club close op Friday, at 8.30 pnn., with Mr Edmund Goodbehere, P.O. Box 45, Feilding. Acceptances for first day events at the Rangitikei Racing Club’s annual meeting close on Tuesday next, March 16 th.. The announcement that the Prince of Wales’s visit has been put on one week, will necessitate the Auckland Racing Club changing the date of their meeting, which was originally put down for Monday, April 24th.

There will be racing at Blenheim and Gore to-day and to-morrow. Dannevirke on Saturday and Monday.

The special feature of the racing at the Akaroa Comity Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday was the form shown by horses trained by J. B. Pearson. He had three representatives at the meeting, and each of them won a race. Warlike taking the Peninsula Cup, Hennetto the Kinloch Welter Handicap, and Clean Sweep the Tq#awera Hack Handicap. Henrietta is owned by Mr W B. Clarkson, while the other two are raced in partnership by Mr Clarkson and his trainer. Pearson has had a verv successful time lately with ms small team, Warlike’s wins earlier in the season including the Grey mouth Cup and the Midsummer Handicap. Tremena was galloping well the early stages of the Peninsula Cup on Saturday, but she suddenly dropped back to last, and a little further on her jockey dismounted. Examination showed that she had broken her off hind leg, just above the fetlock, and she was destroyed. Tremena, who was by Count Witte from the Treadmill marc Advance, had some useful performances to her credit. It was intended to retire her to the stud at the end of this season, and her death was a serious loss to Mr W. A. Xicholls, as she was a fine type of a mare. At the Thames meeting on Saturday, the Goldfields Cup was won by Rockfield. who was successful earlier in the week, in the principal event on each day of the To Aroha meeting. A little over a month ago he Avon a double at Takapuna, and a fortnight later he was second to Tinopai in the To Haiti Cup. Rock field is evidently some horse, and must be put down as the Goldfields champion. Messrs IT. Matson and Co., of Christchurch, held a special sale of polo ponies, on account of Messrs C. O. T. Rutherford (The Peaks) and E. B. Davison (Culverden), on Saturday morning, in Tattersall’s horse bazaar. The scarcity of this class of ponies was made very evident by the keen competition by some of Canterbury’s leading exponents of the game for the ponies offered. The following is the result of the sale:—For Mr C. O. T. Rutherford; Bay mare Ally, tings, A. S. El worthy (Paroora): bay mare Molly. Kings, E. McFarlanc (Culverden); bay mare Cocos, (idgs, E. McEarlane (Culverden); cream mare Mellon Peril, lOOgs, Major Hutton (Bangor). Account Mr E. B. Davison, Culverden: Bay mare Redwing, I Tigs, Chas. Campbell (Davaar); bay mare Babs, 171gs, H. E. Martin (Spreydon); chestnut marc Buddy, 137 tigs, Chas. Campbell (Davaar); chestnut gelding Shark, 70gs, Captain Talm Rhodes (Fendalton): roan mare Molly, 50gs, Chas. Campbell (Davaar).
