OUTRAGE IN IRELAND.

SIX X FI.OINERS ATTACK SHOOT--IXG PARTY. [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Thursday, 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 5. A sensational Sinn Fein outrage is reported from County Clare, where a shooting party, consisting of Lord Inchiquin and his friends, in motorcars, was held up and fired on by a gang - on the roadside. The party returned the fire, and a number were injured on both sides, including the Hon. Edward O’Brien and Lady Beatrice O’Brien, and two County Deputy Lieutenants. Troops rushed to the scene of the outrage. ATTEMPT AT ASSASSINATION. (Received Thursday, 1.40 p.m.) LONDON, December 9. During a debate in the House of Commons, Colonel Malone revealed that Mr Edward Shortt had narrowly escaped assassination a few weeks ago while on a visit to Ireland. When entering Dublin Castle, Sinn Feiners tired from cover at the back of Mr Shortt’s motor-car. Fortunately he escaped.
