CLOVERLEA SETTLEMENT.
RESULT OF BALLOT. A NURSE SUCCESSFUL. The ballot for sections in the Cloverlea settlement, thrown open for disposal to returned soldiers, was held at the Municipal Hall, Palmerston North, on Tuesday last. There wure 37 applicants, and among those who were successful w r as Miss E. I. Schaw, Palmerston North, who w r as formerly a sister in the New Zealand Army Nursing Service. Amended during the recent secsion of Parliament, the provisions of the Discharged Soldiers ’ Settlement Actare now extended to former N.Z.E.F. nurses, and Miss Schaw 7 is the first woman in the Wellington district, and probably in the Dominion, to obtain land under the Act. The following were the successful applicants:—Section IS, 32 acres 2roods 6 perches, F. W. Dorset (Fcathcrston); section 2S, 33 acres 2 roods 2 perches, R. S. Seymour (Palmerston North); section 3S, 33 acres 1 rood 39 perches, F. Ayers (Palmerston North); section 4S, 4 acres, A. D. W. Lawrence (Longburn) ; section SS, 4 acres, J. A. Anderson (Fcildiug); section 7S, 4 acres 2 roods 1(5 perches, Miss E. I. Schaw (Palmerston North); section BS, 4 acres 2 roods 2 perches, A. E. Bartlett (Palmerston North); section 9S, 32 acres 1 rood 32 perches, F. F. Hearsey (Longburn); section 10S, 32 acres 32 perches, T, G. Ritchie (Waituna West); section lIS, 22 acres 2 roods 1C perches, S. E. Blade (Palmerston North); section 325, 2C acres 2 roods 12 perches, A. R. Anderson (Palmerston ; section 13S, 5 acres, J. Budd (Kairanga); section 16S, 4 acres 2 roods 24 perches, C. B. Williamson (Palmerston North); section 17S, 4 acres 2 roods 25 perches, R. J. Cox (Palmerston North); section 18S, 4 acres 2 roods 25 perches, been applied for since the ballot; and sections GS (4 acres), 15S (5 acres), and 19S (4 acres 2 roods 25 perches) were not disposed of.
