PEACE BALL.

OVER £IOO REALISED. A meeting of the Campbell Street School Committee and ladies’ committee was hold yesterday afternoon, Mr A. J. Mahon presiding. An interim balance-sheet in connection with the Peace Ball was read by the chairman, and it disclosed that the gross takings amounted to £147 14/7, expenses £46 11/11, leaving a credit balance of £lOl 2/8 with still several amounts to come in. Mr Mahon said they -were very grateful to the ladies ’ committee, which with Mrs Palmer at the head, had done wonderful work. The function was undoubtedly the finest ever held here in connection with the school. The chairman also referred to the splendid eft forts of Mr mainly responsible for its promotion. The asistance of other teachers was also commended. Mrs H. Palmer returned thanks on behalf of the ladies ’ committee and said the function was one of the biggest she bad been connected with. Votes of thanks were passed to the ladies’ committee and all others who had assisted or made donations. It was resolved that the School Committee and staff bo empowered to spend the money to the best possible advantage. Mr Bullians moved a special vote of thanks to the mothers for the manner in which they had co-operated, as it had been most gratifying. He bad never before seen such a brilliant display of dresses and colours. The motion was enthusiastically carried.
