HOCKEY.

On Saturday two ladies 5 teams from Pcilding visited Palmerston and played the local representative A and B teams on the High School grounds, the home team in the A match securing an easy victory by 8 goals to nil. Play at times was interesting but on the whole it was a poor display for representative players. The local team will require to put more vim into their play before reaching the standard necessary to win a N.Z. tournament. Now that the tournament at Christchurch has been postponed until the end of September, local players will have bettor opportunity to get into form. The Pcilding girls were not the strongest cloven available, although some promising players were included in the team. Scores were registered by E. Green (5), E. Colliugwood, L. Hodder and R. Fletcher. The B match was a hax-d-fought game with little Scientific play and resulted in a drawn game, each side scoring one goal. Mr K. Tail, controlled the A match and Mr E. Watson the B match.
