HOCKEY.
INTER-ISLAND MATCHES HAVE BEEN ABANDONED. fj*er Preps Association.' CHRISTCHURCH. Last night. At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Hockey Association, communications were received from various clubs on the question of holding, an inter-island competition this year. The proposal is favoured by Otago, Canterbury, South Canterbury and Hawke's Bay, while Waikato and Auckland are against it. It was arranged that, owing to the uncertainty of travelling arrangements, the question of holding an intcr-Island match this year be abandoned, and the matter be considered attire next annual meeting.
