DANNEVIEKE DOINGS.

About 30 applications have been received so far for the position of caretaker of the Soldiers’ Institute. The committee will deal with the applications on Monday night. The Municipal Band propose holding one of their popular Sunday evening concerts in the Town Hall to-morrow, after the church services. The programme is very suitable for a Sunday evening concert, and included in it are items by Miss Ivy Bingham and Mr Ken Gillespie, Mr J. Donaldson (a boss singer of repute just returned from active service), and Mr H. J. Cornwall, a gifted pianist, late of the Cornwall family, will also assist. Results of junior football matches:— Excelsior 6 v. To Rehunga 0; Ormondvillo 3 v. Kiritaki 0; Aotca forfeited to Old Boys. Ormondville is to build a Peace Memorial Hall and to form a Soldiers’ Club. Mr Harold Smith, M.P., is acting with the special conunittcc set up to prepare a Bill for the Gorge Road and Bridges Board of 'Control. Miss G. E. George, of Kaitawa, and Mr 8. Stronge, of Palmerston North, were married in Pahiatua this wek. Mr M. Connor’s motor-truck and Mr Tilcy’s car collided in Makuri gorge. Both vehicles arc in the repair shop. Kohinui choose shareholders signed up the butter equalisation petition to Parliament. The upkeep of the garden squares in Main Street is expensive, and the tender method is now to be tried.
