During tho discussion of Mr McCall’s paper at the Society of Arts, Sir Thomas Mackenzie condemned the exploitation of woollen goods in Britain, where the price of goods was fourfold the pre-war price, whereas New Zealand was only charging 55 per cent over the pre-war price for wool. Sir Thomas Mackenzie pointed out that America was selling tweeds at 3/ a yard under English price, though the American manufacturer had paid much more than the English for wool.
