Summer. ■I '- iTAETOISr EACES. at.t. OVER WINS THE CUP. PENNON THE RAILWAY. The Marton Summer Meeting was held yesterday in boisterous weather, which, however, did not effect the attendance, which was well up to the average. The fields did not come up to expectations, a number of the names of those entered not putting in an appearance. The racing, however, was full of interest, some of the finishes being most exciting. The Marton owned and trained All Over won the Cup in great style ,and naturally received a great ovation on returning to the scale. The light-weighted Pennon gave nothing else a chance in the Railway Handicap, getting to the front soon after the start of the race, and winning easily at the finish. . Mr Angus Keith, as starter, carried out his \ duties in a very efficient manner, and the position of judge was filled in a very capable manner by Mr B. Aldworth. The general arrangements for the meeting were well carried out, and Mr Arthur Way, the secretary, and all the officials, worked hard in the interests of the club, and are to* be congratulated on the result of their labours. The totalisator returns showed a slight increase over last year's figures, being £34,061, as against £33,394 for last year. The Marton Brass Band played a good programme of music during the day, and a dainty morning and afternoon tea was served by Messrs. Langley Bros. The public seem now to be quite reconciled to the '' no luncheon'' arrangement, and as long as racing clubs see that arrangements similar to those at Ashhurst and Marton arc carried out, there should be no room for complaint. The following are the details of the day's racing:—
