NOW BEYOND DOUAI

[Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Sunday 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 19. The British and Americans continued to attack between Bohain and Le Gateau and made good progress in cooperation with the Trench on their right. Despite heavy resistance we once more have driven the enemy from the positions he took up. We captured Wassigny and Ribeaueaille and have entered Bazeul where fighting continues. We have 1 taken over 1200 prisoners in these operations. Between Sensee Canal and the Lys river the enemy has been forced to retreat. We further advanced five miles despite considerable opposition. General Home's First Army has completed the capture of Douai and progressed eastward of this front. We have reached the general line Marqu-ette-Nostrevant-Masny,Bersee - Fretin-Sainghain-Ascq. Northward of Ascq General Plumcr's Second Army are eastward of Roubaix to Turcoing.
