t The i.(!w Zealand Loan and MercanI til Agciiov Co., Ltd., .Dauncvirkc, ro- ; poit: On Thursday, 25th duly, we held I a very successful clearing sale at Raunuiti on account of Mr E. W. Pilcher. There was a good attendance of buyers and although some of the cotvs -were a bit low in condition yet they showed plenty of quality and we consequently received brisk bidding and cleared the herd at the average of £ls 12s. Two old cows and one very late ealver realised £9 to £G 10s, pedigree cows well on in years realised from £lO to £29 10s, springing p.b. heifers £lB IBs, grade springers £ls 5s to £l3 10s, p.b. wearier heifers £8 and grade do. £4 ss; bulls from £G to £3. Sundries sold at market rates. On Friday, 26th inst., at weekly Dannevirkc sale we offered a fair yarding of sheep to a fair attendance of buyers. We quote for this sale: Woolly m.s. hoggets 27s to 22s 7d, shorn do. 20s 7d to 18s 7d. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: At Levin on Tuesday we yarded a large entry of sheep and a small one of cattle. Bidding was not animated except for good lines of well forward sheep. We also offered on behalf of F. S. Easton, Esq., the Tc Eauawa purebred flock of Romney ewes recently taken over by him from J. Kebbell. Esq. The flock comprised 22 2tooth owes, 13 4-tooths, 36 6-toothe, 77 4 and 5-year-olds, and were distributed between Air W. R. McLeod, of Taka - pan, H. 8.; Mr A. L. Wheeler, of Huntorville; Airs H. Hannon, Levin; and Air A. J. Rutherfurd, of Alfredton. The prices ranged from 5 to 10 guineas, the flock of 148 ageraging 6gns per head. Other quotations: Fat wethers 38s 6d, light fat ewes 28s 3d, forward owes 245. medium hoggets 18s 9d, cull hoggets 10s to 12s, a nice lino of well bred Romney owes in lamb 38s 7d, store cows £4 12s. 6d, £5. Alcssrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: At our usual weekly sale at Palmerston North on the 25th inst. there was a small yarding of both sheep and cattle, and the market was dull. Wo quote: Sheep, fat ewes to 355, fat hoggets to 17s, ewes in lamb 34s to 16s, hoggets 10s C,l springing cows to £33, cows in milk £8 14s. At Fcilding on the 26th inst. the tone of the sheep market was much improved, especially hoggets, one line of wether hoggets making up to 27s 6d. Other prices ruling were as follows: Fat wethers 35s to £2 3s 6d, fat. hoggets 24s Id to 25s 6d, ewes in lamb 21s, 21s 3d, to 22s Id, gt. empty ewes 24s 3d to 28s 6d, empty owes 19s 7d to 245, mixed hoggets 21s, 24s Id, to 255, wether hoggets 24s to 27s 6d, small hoggets 13s to 15s 6d; fat heifers £8 to £9 10s, 20-month steers £4 19s to £6, weaners (mixed) £2 5s to £2 10s, springing cows £lO to £ll, springing heifers £8 2s 6d, cows in profit £6 ss. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Palmerston North, report: —We held our usual hide sale to-day, 26th .TnTy, 1918, and submitted a good catalogue. All hides were firm at last sale rates. Calfskins advanced %d for best lines and tallow: sold well at late rates. We quote: medium ox ll%d to 11 3-Bd, light ox lOd to ll%d, hy cow 9 7-Sd, medium cow 9%d, light cow 9 l-Bd, cow, cut and inferior 744 dto B%d, yearlings 9%d to lid, horse hides 11s to 15s 6d. calfskins 14% d, calfskins (meaty) 12 4-Bd, calfskins (cut and inf.) 8d to 12d. Tallow (in tins) 30s Cd per cwt; cow tails 6d per dozen. Our next hide sale will be held on 22nd August, 1918; next sheepskin valuation 7th August, 1918. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report, having a very fair entry of sheep and cattle at their Fcilding sale on Friday, the 26th July, 1918, which sold freely at following prices:— Sheep; Chill hoggets 11s 9d, small do 14s 4d to 14s Bd, fair do 18s9 d to l9s lOd, good do 255, light fat wethers 365, light fat ewes 31s. Cattle: Small weaners 265, backward dairy cows £5 17s, £6 12s 6d to £7 7s 6d.

The Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Assocition, Ltd., Dannevirko, report on Friday’s sale as follows: —We hud a small entry of sheep and a few pens of cattle, which we offered to a rather poor attendance. Considering the rough weather we have had lately, we consider sheep sold very well. The few fat ewes that came forward were in very keen demand, and for a pen of prime good skinned ewes we realised 38s. Most of our cattle entry went out unsold. We report the following sales: —l7 fat ewes (good) 38s, 1 ewe in lamb 32s (id, 41 woolly hoggets 21s lOd, 70 do 20s 4d. 07 culls 10s Od. 1 guaranteed cow £l2 10s, 1 springing heifers £8 15s, 3 heifers in calf £lO Iss, 1 empty cow £9 ss. White, Himitangi, and Mr G. H. Styles, Foxton Line, Awapuni. At Kimbolton on Wednesday we had a good yarding, chiefly hoggets of good quality. Competition was keen throughout, and we sold all lots at auction: Good ewe hoggets 23s lid, 25s (hi, wether hoggets 23s lOcl, mixed hoggets 21s. small hoggets 11s 6d,145, forward empty ewes 21s fid, fat ewes 28s Id, good mixed yearling £4 18s, empty cows £7 2s 6d, £B, dairy cows £ll, S.H. bull £ls 15s. At Mr George White’s sale at Himatangi on Tuesday, in spite of the rough weather, there was a good attendance of buyers.
