Mr Charles Schwab (Director of Shipbuilding), at the visit of the American diplomats to the Government shipyard, predicted an enormous output by the shipyards in 1919. Ho said the United States would probably produce 9,000,000 tons of stool ships and 4,200,000 tons of wooden ships next year. If the shipyards work to the full capacity they would complete 1200 steel ships and a similar number of wooden ships.
