Fire in Butter Factory.
building completely gutted (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. A serious iire broke out this evening in a three-storey butter box factory of Bagnall Bros, and Co., Freeman’s Bay. The men had just been paid for the week and the engineer had just concluded inspection of the building when smoko vnas seen coming apparently from the centre of the building. By the time the lire brigade arrived the factory was ablaze f,- om end to end. A detached office, kowiso a boiler house, were also alight and the fire was not extinguished until after live hours’ work lon the part of the brigades. The building was of such stout construction that although part of the roof fell in the machinery remains on the three floors. The. machinery was valued at £BOOO, 'the building at £2OOO ) and until inspection it is impossible to say the exact amount of the damage, but it must be heavy. I The origin of the lire is unknown.
