BATTLES IN RUMANIA.
Enemy 17 Miles From Capital. FIGHTING IN THE CARPATHIANS (Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received Friday, iT.SO p.m.) PETROGRAD, Nov. 3(?. A Russian'communique states: — In the wooded Carpathans we took possession of Rukhda height. A battle is proceeding for the heights east of Kinobaba. The latter are under our fire. The enemy occupied Koman, seventeen miles southeast of Bucharest. A Rumanian communique states: — There are violent actions along the whole north and north-west front. We progressed in the Buzeu and Prahova valleys. Violent actions are in progress on the GlaxacjiroThe situation on the southern front is unchanged. A German communique states: — In the wooded Carpathians and the frontier of Moldavia, the Russians continued their attack and gained some advantages. The communique claims that the fall of Kimpolung opens the way across the Toerburger Pass; also the capture of 1217 men and seven guns at Kimpolung.
