l'o-night 's special features in the shape of Ladies' and Gents' Halfmile Handicap races should be interesting, a goodly number of entries having been received for both events. The Fancy Dress and Poster Carnival is tne big event of the forthcoming week, and the following trophies will be awarded: —Two-step Competition (open), needlework companion; Best Lady's Poster Dress, Lady's companion; Best Gent's PosteT Dress, silver-mounted inkstand; Couples' Gliding Competition, jewel case; Best Impersonation of Charlie Chaplin, safety razor; Rink Waltzing Couples, silver-backed mirror and comb; Best Lady Skater, silverbacked mirror nad brush; Gents' Half-mile Hoop Race, watch; Best Lady's Fancy Dress, bedroom marble clock; Best Gent's Fancy Dress, silver shaving mug; Best Gent Skater, set military hair brushes (in case); Rink Two-step Couples, silver-mounted perfume bottle; Open Waltzing Couples, jewel case; Best Impersonation of Lady by Gent, set of ebony-backed brushes; Couples' Musical Squares, gold muff chain; P.N. Grand National Steeplechase (open), tobacco pouch. The Carnival is to extend over two nights, i.e., Wednesday and Thursday, the 11th and 12th October, and the management have matters well in hand so that patrons may be assured that their comfort and enjoyment will leave nothing to be desired. The proprietarv also announce that during Show Week a "Hard Up" Carnival with various competitions, will be run.
