The Need for Men.

LONDON, Oct. 4. Official: The Man Power Board beard evidence on behalf of the Admiralty, the Army Council, and the Ministry of Munitions, which proved that fresh supplies of men for the armies and munition factories are urgently needed. The Board urges tribunals not to extend periods of exemptions whereof there are 400,000 cases, and to expedite the hearing of applications, whereof there are 200,000. Eegarding the dilution of labour, the Board requests the Board of Trade and Mr Arthur Henderson to confer with employers and trade union leaders to extend the system of dilution, thus freeing skilled men engaged in private work fox munitions. Much labour now in private work must be diverted to Government production or released for the army.
