Who Shall Command?
TROUBLE OVER RELIEF SHIP. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night. With reference to the appointment of Capt. Davis to the command of the relief ship Aurora, the committees concerned considered t-fc_.•■ the most experienced man shoulc >e" selected, and that with Davis ; i .command and Capt. Stenhouse as chief officer the chances of success were enhanced. During Shackleton's expedition of 1907-1910 Davis was chief officer of the Vimroa and afterwards captain, making the trips to the Eoss Sea in her. He also commanded the Aurora during- the MaWson expedition. In a letter to the Mayor of Dunedin, Hooke, Donnelly and Thomson, i the remaining officers of tho Aurora, protest against Capt. Stenhouse being superseded in commix ad, and state that they feel bound to withdraw their services frOm the relief of their comrades in distress if the authorities insist on superseding the present commander. They also take exception to the manner in which the alteration was conveyed to Captain Stenhouse.
