At the Mangaweka Court on Wednesday William Adams, headmaster of the local school, was charged with wilfully assauiting Kathleen Greyn, aged ten.

Kathleen Green deposed that she failed to remember a recitation, "Sweet Piccolo," an J that thy master hit her over the arms with u supplejack.

Dr Serpell said he child's arms showed only slight discolouration. He could not say that any undue violence had»Jbeen used.

William Adams said he had reprimanded the girl. She started sci earning loudly, and despite warning refused to desist. After several warnings he hit her across the arms with a supplejack. The case was dismissed with costs agafnt complainant. Another case against Mr . Adams preferred by a girl named Hpncock was dismissed with costs against complainant.

A case preferred by Adams against Mrs Green for disturbing tho school and refusing to leave the premises when requested was withdrawn.
