That the matter of having the water removed from road in Riddiford's estate be left to the Councillor for the Taonui Riding and Inspector, with power to act. That matter of repairs to Rangitikei Line be left to Inspector, with power to act. , That the timber at the Rangiotu bridge be sold by public auction at next stock sale. A deputation of seven settlers on Scott's road waited on the Council re condition of the top of the road, and asked for improvements to same. It was pointed that the road was in a bad state, and one member of the deputation stated that it was in a worse state now than 14 years ago. It was dangerous at night time to drive along. The Chairman stated that they would be making up the estimates soon. He would like to visit the locality shortly. It was the intention of the Council to put something on the estimates in any case. Some ratepayers were paying to the Horowhenua County, and he would like to have a statement of what they paid in genuine rates so that they could discuss the matter with that county. They would then probably be able to get something out of the latter county. It was decided to inspect the road, in the meantime the settlors to ob- 1 tain an estimate of rates paid to Horowhenua County. Mr D. Buick, M.P., suggested the counties meeting and putting a certain sum on the estimates, and then approach the Government for a £ for £ subsidy, and he did not consider there would be any great difficulty in obtaining the same. Mr Buick, M.l'., waited on the Board, and asked that the water table bo cleaned out fronting his property, and they were welcome to use his drains to take the water away, which would be advantageous both to the Council and himself. It was decided to attend to the matter. Messrs Byers and McMurray waited on the Council and objected to paying rates on Stoney Creek drain, as the Council had put a fresh cut altogether, thus blocking up another drain in flood time. The stop bank prevented all chance of the water getting clear, and section 411 was consequently flooded. The deputation also reeo-.irr.cn led about the cleaning of the outler from the junction down. It was proposed to strike a separate rating area for the purpose of striking a separate rate to maintain that portion of the Stoney Crecy drain, which was constructed by special loan, and that the action of the Chairman and Cr. Wilsher in appointing Mr Armstrong classifier be confirmed, and that his classification be adopted. Accounts amounting to £990 5s 5d were passed for payment.
