In a race with sixteen acceptors at Otaki Microbe (7.13) and Eron Boy (7.5) are recent large dividend payers. Ngarua (7.12) ran a good race at Wanganui, but the last half furlong found him out, and he was placed third. Forest Belle; trained at Riccarton, and to be ridden by G. C. Emmerson, will be among the starters. Silver Monarch and Exotic will have the greatest number of admirers in the Otaki Steeplechase owing to their recent successes. Lcolnnter ran well for about one and a half miles in the Hack Steeplechase at Wanganui, and the race would do him a Pt of good. Te Whetu failed to stand up both days, but shaped better the sec-ond-day. Stockade (10.8) appears to be the most seasoned horse in the race, and his jumping abilities are well known.

The Raukawa Cup Is a very open race, and Mvsteriarcli (8.7) and First Consul should be the most fancied. Byron (9.0), Otahu (8.2, and lmarose (7.8) will have a large following. Otahu (8.2) is long overdue. Lady Louisa (7.(5) should not find the distance beyond her. Sir Donald may claim the distinction of favouritism in the Otaki Handicap; lie is evidently fast" coming back to form according to his showing in the Balgownie Hack Race, when he filled third place. Whisperer (7.7) won with ease at Blenheim. Patronata is a well bred one, but has not come up to expectations. There is always anticipation for Move On. In a race at Pal.nerston he was very slow at the first part of it, but came fast over the last bit, and ran fourth. ErmC!igaide-(0.0) is not badly treated in the Flying, but will have to be at her best to lead the lield. Pavlova (8.3) may produce Wan£(\nni Cup form. Mowbray (B.o\ if well, will T>? hard to fct. Others that may run prominently are Wild Lupin (8.0) and Lady Volga (7.13). Lady Volga will be well supported in the Welter. Piermout (*.7) ran second to Stockade at Manawatu Au- ; Ur.nn M.eeting.
