Abraham & Williams, ltd., will sell at 1 p.m.: — OK Draughts, Hacks, Harness Horses and Ponies. Also: Dray, Dogcart and Harness. Easier Ploughing. WITH BETTER RESULTS. At a recent Waikato ploughing match a heavy spring balance was placed between the plough and the team of each competitor in turn. The Oliver Steel Ploughs registered much less draught than any others although turning a bigger furrow. Yet, strange to say, this bigger furrow was broken to such an extent that judges said the ground would be saved one stroke of the discs in subsequent cultivation. The secret lay in the Oliver's short mouldboard on which the furrow has no time to lie and drag, but gets flopped over, burying rubbish and being broken it- * self. The old, long mouldboard turns its furrows slowly and presses it tightly as is shown by the wear on end of board. This adds to the draught without adding to the effectiveness of the work. Oliver Steel Ploughs run from fifty shillings to seven pounds, and are stocked by HOLBEN & KIRK, of Palmerston North. A 96-page Catalogue of useful time and money saving implements, printed on art paper and fully illustrated, is sent post free on request to any address. Inspection and enquiries are solicited.
