Mr W. Burgess, of the staff of College street school, has been appointed headmaster of Fitzherbert East school. Mr W. Beswick, postmaster, who is at present on leave, has returned to Palmerston from a four weeks' visit to various parts of the South Island. The Governor of Queensland, Sir Wiu. McGregor, announces that he intends remaining in office till the end of his term, excepting for a month's leave, to which he is entitled. It was previously reported that he intended resigning.
