AMERICA WARNED
KEGAKDING LABOI'K UNIONS AND WAGES. By Electric Telegraph —Press Association—Copyright. WASHINGTON, May 27. James .T. Hill, speaking at the National Foreign Trade Convention, warned the United States against following Britain's lead in allowing Labour Unions to lix scales of wages, thus enabling Germany to make successful attacks on British commerce. The burdens placed on business in England were "producing widespread industrial unrest and a similar effect was likely in the United States. America would be unable to hold her markets against competitors while maintaining wage scales which did not admit of meeting competitors' prices, and simultaneously offered no inducements to capital to exploit new fields of development.
