CYCLE ROAD RACES.
i The second series of cycle road 'by Palmerston Cycling and Athletic Club held yesterday afternoon .ittract ed a large attendance and keen interest Was taken in both the boys' and men's events. B. O'Keefe with 18 minutes, won the .''2 miles open race, G. Sutherland •with 14 minutes, being second and G. Brady 11 minutes, third. J. Coulter off scratch, put up the fastest time, covering the distance in 1 hour _! t minutes 25 seconds, beating Harold Henderson by two seconds. When the final round of the race was entered upon the race was very open. O'Keefe the winner, who is practically a boy, put up a wonderful performance. The boys' race resulted as follows: —L. Hocking, 23 minutes, 1: 11. Richardson 24 minutes 1(5 seconds, 2; E.'Anstis 24 minutes .18 seconds, J The race which was over a distance of eight miles, was well fought out, the placed boys being bunched together at the finish. The two races were started by Miss Miller, the Sporting Candidate for the Carnival.
Major Dunk acted as judge, A! r H N. Nash as timekeeper and Mr S. Wright press steward.
