MAUD ALLAN.

There was a large audience at the Opera House last evening to welcome the famous dancer, Miss Maud Allan. The excellent programme was well received throughout and the dancing of Miss Allan was greatly appreciated. The performance opened by the Cherniavskys with a trio —pianoforte, violin and 'cello —which was warmly encored. Miss Allan received a great reception when she apeared. Her opening dance was "Am Meer" (By the Sea) a dance of despair. "Moment Musical" was also an excellent item in which the performer moved with alacrity. Mischel Cherniavsky showed the refined touch of a master hand on the piano and had to respond to several encores. Miss Allan again appeared before the interval and was rewarded with the same liberal share of applause. One of the star items was that of Leo Cherniavsky in '' Ave Maria" and "Spanish Dance" and the audience showed their reluctance to allow him to leave the stage. Miss Allan again appeared in the "Blue Danube Valse" and again received an encore to which she responded. Taken throughout the programme was one of exceptional merit and the liberal applause shows that the public were thoroughly satisfied.
