MARLBOROUGH RACES. IMAROSE WINS THE ClJl'. Press Association —By Telegraph. BLENHEIM, May* (5. There was fine bright weather for the opening day of the Marlborough Racing Club Autumn meeting. The course was in excellent order and there was a large attendance. The sum of £7,55;! passed through the totalisator. Following are the results: Maiden Hack, (i furlongs.—2 Haumakaha 8.7 (\Y. Price) 1, 1 Elevate 7.6 2, 5 Achilles 7.(5 3. Also ran — George 9.0, Curest 8.12, Idol 8.11, Eron Boy 5.7, Elopement 8.11. From a good start George was first to move out but Haumakaha soon took the lead, closely followed by Elevate. The winner lead nearly all the way and won by two lenghts, a length between second and third. Time ,1.17.

Ugbroke Welter, 7 furlongs.—l The Great Mogul S.S (L. Nodder) 1, 3 Epworth 8.9 2, 2 Stepney 9.1 3. Also ran —Mt. Victoria 10.2, Waipunui 8.11, Merry Guy 8.3, Lady Kilcheran 8.1, Killaloo 8.0. Waipunui led off, but was soon displaced by Epworth and Merry Guy running together for several furlongs. In the straight Epworth had command but Great Mogul coming very fast ran alongside the leader and won by half a head. Time 1.29 2-5.

Passing the stand the order was Monologue, Imarose, Parky, Odessa and Manitau. On entering the straight anything appeared to have a : chance and Odessa's prospects looked excellent. Near home Imarose ran out and passing Monologue won by a length without much difficulty, similar distance separating second and third. Time 2.9 4-5.

The Club's new buildings erected at a cost of £35,000 and considered to be as up-to-date as any in 'the Dominion were opened by the Hon. H. D. Bell, Minister for Internal Affairs. The Hon. W. Fraser was also present. The attendance was a record one and the totalisator handled the sum of £23,656, against £15,429 for the corresponding day of last year.
