UNKNOWN STEAMER AFIRE
NO SIGN OF LIFE. By Electric Telegraph.—Press Association —Copyright. Received -5.45 p.m. HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA, May 4, An unidentified steamer afire is reported ."iOO miles south of Cape Eace by the steamer Zeidlitz which was unable to identify her owing to the thick smoke. No sign of life was discoverable. FATE OF CREW A MYSTERY. Received 0.15 p.m. HALIFAX, May 4. The Zeidlitz called other liners by wireless, the Sachem. Branderburv. Olympia and Franconia responding. No trace of the ship's boats was found and the fate of the crew is a mvsterv.
