HOCKEY.
j TWO SATURDAY TEAMS. A very enthusiastic meeting of hockey players was held in the New Royal Hotel last evening and it was decided to form two Saturday teams to enter into competition with the Feilding Association. It was decided that each team call meetings at an early date to elect officers, etc. Judging by the material present it augurs well for the success of Saturday hockey. A sub-committee was set up, consisting of Messrs William Rutherfurd, J. D. "Vernon and H. Hodgson, to make arrangements for the necessary grounds.
PALMERSTON CLUB. The Palmerston Hockey Club held I an enthusiastic annual meeting at the New Royal Hotel last evening, Mr H. Hodgson occupying the chair. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr H. R. Woon; vice-presidents, Messrs C. Louisson, E. Shep Dixon, L. Duthie, H. N. Haycock, and D. Dustin; delegates to Manawatu Hockey Association, Messrs H. Kerslake and D. Park; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Park. It was decided to elect the captain and vice-captain on the occasion of the first match, who with the secretary and treasurer will form the committee. Several new members were elected and the season promises to produce the best team that the Club has yet brought out. j
