Professor Malla'lra and two companions descended twelve hundred feet into the crater of Vesuvius and found inside the funnel at the bottom of the crater an enormous fiery cavern They lost their thermometers through the steel rope fusing, but previous to this mishap tne beat registered 626 Fahrenheit.
