M. DANEFF.
A brief cable message vesterday announced that M. Daneff, the Bulgar ian premier, was suffering indignities at the hands of his fellow count ymen. We have a very imperfect index at this distance to the internal troubles that are racking the Balkan nations, but in the case of M. Daneff, British and European papers have been attributing for some time a good deal of the mess into which Bulgaria got to hu poor statesmanship. In various capitals that statesm\n, during the last ten months had created a most unfavourable impression by his attitude of
I overweening arrogance which seemed sometimes to almost touch the point of caricature. He proved a diplomat who only knew how to' antagonise. As a result of his diplomacy all three of Bulgaria's active enemies tore away from her a very large portion of her territory. Soldiers returning from the wars attributed their misfortunes to him, and the latest cables suggested that M. Daneff was Jikely to forfeit bis life.
