IN THE CAUSE OF AST.

LOCAL ENTERPRISE. If any society deserves is the Manawatu Arts and Crafts Club. The members of the committee for months past have been energetically working with splendid organization, the object in view being to provide a treat for the Palmerston public. It was decided in order to have a far-reaching effect to invite outside artists to exhibit. It is gratifying to the Club to know that their request has met with liberal response and tnat Palmerston public will be in a position to view the works of some of the most skilled artists in the Dominion. Miss C. Jakins,, of Auckland, has intimated that she will send along an exhibit of handpainted china. Miss A. M. Adams, of Christchurch, will also exhibit jewellery work. Amongst the loan pictures will be a collection of Corot's and Whistler's works. The Railway Department has arranged to carry the exhibits free.

The membership roll stands at 63, and there is every prospect of that .number being increased before the exhibition opens, on May 6. On the opening night honorary members, working members, and their friends will be admitted free. To the general public a charge of 2s Hd will be made and supper will be provided.
