THE AMAKURA INQUIRY.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE REFUSED. (Press. Association.—By Telegraph. Wellington. Last Night. Mr J. G. Harp, the publication of whose letter in a Hamilton paper resulted in an inquiry into the alleged maltreatment of boys on the Amokura, interviewed the Minister of Marine to-day, and asked for assistance of counsel. This was refused, but he was assured he could visit the ship and would be afforded every facility in connection with the inquiry. His evidence will be taken to-morrow evening. Mr Campbell, the late second officer of the Amokura, arrives from the North to-morrow, and will be examined. The inquiry is likely to conclude before the end of the week.
