TO-DAY'S POLL.
The ratepayers of Palmerston should not look lightly upon the duty they have /before them to-day. The question they have to decide at the ballot box closely concerns the future of this Borough. No doubt most people have made up their minds individually. Opinions seem very divided as to whether trams or motor busses would be most suitable, but it is an indecision Palmerston collectively has shared with Timaru, Napier and New Plymouth. We have done our utmost to supply from time to time information from all available sources, in New Zealand and from abroad, bearing upon the subject, to assist ratepayers to judge from the welfare of the district. It is obvo'us this town is in need of some adequate tiansit service. It is necessary for its progress. We must bring ourselves into line with other towns. The question is: Will electric trams or motor busses suit its peculiar features the better. In this question the route difficulty figures largely—as Mr Black in his report himself points out. However, we have already submitted arguments on that point, and there is no need to retrace familiar ground.
