UNIONIST MEMORIAL. Prees Assn—By Telegraph—Copyright London, Jan. 9. Practically all the Unionist Commoners, apart from the front benchers, are signing a memorial stating that while affirming their belief in Imperial preference and their unabated confidence in Mr Bonar Law's leadership, they consider the best interests of the party would be consulted if food duties were removed from the questions submitted to the next election. The Daily Mail says that Mr Austen Chamberlain's tact and goodwill have removed the risk of a division in the party. Several newspapers represent tnat the Unionists' memorial expresses the hope of a colonial conference, and that a tax on food will not be imposed before a general election.
