The Nationalists of Londonderry, fearing that Leslie, who is a convert to Catholicism, would alienate the Protestant Home Rulers, nave finally selected Mr Hogg, a Presbyterian, for their candidate in the Londonderry by-election, caused by the death of the Dake of Abercorn.
