HOME RULE.
THE LONDONDERRY SEAT. (Press Association. —By Telegraph. London, Jan. 9. The Nationalists of Londonderry, fearing that Leslie, who is a convert to Catholicism, would alienate the Protestant Home Rulers, nave finally selected Mr Hogg, a Presbyterian, for their candidate in the Londonderry by-election, caused by the death of the Dake of Abercorn. At the last election the voting was:—The late Duke of Abercorn 2415. Mr Leslie 2310.
HOME RULE BILL. In the House of Commons thirteen clauses of the Home Rule Bill (to the 27th clausewere guillotined and only two discussed, treating of taxation. THE LORD LIEUTENANCY.
Received 10.35 p.m. London, Yeserday. In the House of Commons clause 31 of the Home Rule Bill, with Mr Birrell's amendment that the Lord Lieutenancy's continuance of office should not be affected by changes in the British or Irish Ministers, was carried by 289 to 174.
