DANTE'S INFERNO.

AT THE OPERA HOUSE.

A realistic depiction of Hell as seen in the imagination of tbe famous Italian poet, shown at the Opera House last evening, is an indication that nothing i? sa<?red to the moving juGullre artist and nothing too awesome. ' There is II nobility about Dante's masterpiece thai it would seem impossible to translate into pictures and remarkable is the thoroughness and ingenuity with which the picture-producers have done this. The audience last night was largely divided between those who had |a horror of the depiction and those who laughed at such scenes as that which showed the victims' legs protruding from the boiling holes. The general effect was a triumph of stage management and pourtrayal and some ot the scenes were qu : te weird, but it was impossible to make the big devil who crunched sinners in his jaws other than grotesque, In addition to the " star "'subject there is an excellent series of general films, American and European, a set depicting Italian Royalties being particularly good. They will be shown again to-night for the last time.
