Another conference of the Mt. Lydl directors and the representatives of the strikers proved futile. After a short discussion the directors aiwioiuioed that they wero not prepared to deal with the miners while the threat of an engine-drivers' strike existed. The conference adjourned tiil Wednesday. Subsequently *all the engineers, firemen and minors, numbering 130, were ordered ont 'and ceased work. Besides stopping the mines tho electric lighting of the town was cut off,
