A Press Association telegram front Auckland announces the death of Mr John Masser, senr., father of Mr Wm, Massey, leader of the Opposition.
Oaptaiu Hamilton taok up hie duties as brigade-major at the. District Defence Office yeHterday. Miss E. Stafford, a teacher at thfr Campbell Street School, has been on sick leave for a fortnight,and it will be another week before Bhe can attend to her dnties.
At the meeting of the Campbell Street School Committee last night it was decided to sand letters of sympathy to Mr A. J. (Jobb, a commit-tee-man, who is seriously ill, and to Mr and MrsDufresue, who recently lost their son by drowning. The deceased was a soholar at the school.
