THE LATE MR ROBERTSON
♦ —' — IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL YESTERDAY There was a large attendance of leading settlers at the funeral of the late Mr J. A. Robertson at Dnpnevirke, yesterday and a gieat nnmbar of wreaths, were placed on the ooffiu, including those from the Highland Society.the Rtialnne Club, the Golf Olnb, and members Oi Mr Robertson's staff. The pall-bearers were Dr Macallan, Messrs W. H. Hartgill, E. Lawford, G. A. Greenwood aud P. Prichard. The family wes represented'by his sons, Mr lan Robertson aud Master Keir Robertson, and brothers-in-law Messrs A. and *'. Potts. The Rev. A. Grant oondncted the service at the grave and the olergymen present were Rev E. Robertshawe, Father Uahill and Pastor Riee. Mrs Robertson has reoeived telegrams and other messages of oondolence from all parti of the Dominion, as wherever her lato husband was known he wa9 held in the highest regard and esteem'. Mr Robertson was here for the Sheffield Choir concert last Friday ohatting with characteristic .brightness with many friends and it is feared that he got a chill as he developed pneumonia. Mr Robertson was a man of exceptional ability, endnrance and determination, He had done a grf at deal of important sarvey work for the Government, including the Ohatliams aud portion of Stewart Island, nud had many adventures. He lived tor some time at Hoknwhita, but Bold to Mr John Geuimell and removed to Dannevirke. He leaves a widow (nee Miss Potts) and Jus ■ sons Stewart, lan and Keir and two daughters.
