DOMINION NEWS. ARNST AND WHELCH, (Press Association). Ohristchuroh, Yesterday. Arust and Wiielch are out daily, bat broken weather lias interrupted training operations to some extent. The slide watchers say this will do a lot of harm, particularly iu the case of Whelch, who may have been getting too lrnich "boat." Arnst_ is down to within 31b of his rowing weight. ' TROUBLE WITH A "TATTER. SALL'S." Aaokland, Yesterday. The detectives arrested Harold Pennell, oliargeil with failing to account to his alleged patuers, Hariran and Bowman, tor the money claimed by them iu respect of a successful ticket iu a Tattersall's sweep, the tickets being taken in Pennell s name. The amount involved iu this case is £7ll 9s 3d. At the police court this morning, Pennell was remanded to appear at Wailii with Kneeboue, who was committed on March 13. Bail was allowed, himself iu £2soand another suiety of £250. FIRE AT HASTINGS. Hastings, Yesterday. The thirteeu-roomed house owned and occupied by Mrs E. Bamforth was totally destroyed yesterday afternoon by fire. The'oause is uuknown. Mrs Eamfoth was abseufc in Wellington, and the remainder of the family were away at the time of the outbreak. A quantity of furniture was saved. The insurance on the bniltling was £250 in the National, and on the furniture £2OO in the Alliance.
