Tiie Dominion Government is advancing six million dollars to the Montreal Harbour Commission to provide additional port facilities, The contract with the New Zealand shipping couipany provides for monthly sailings from Montreal in summer aud St, John iu winter, calling at Halifax. Tlio subsidy is £2OOO a month. The rates must not exoeed those from similar ports in the United States.
A New Zealand shipping oompany, understood to be the Union Steamship Company, in conjunction with the Oanadian-Paoifio Railroad Oompany has contracted to establish a line from Eastern Canada to New Zealand and Australia,
