A meeting of the Hawera brand: o? the Engine-drivers, Firemen an<i Oleauois' Association unmjimouslj passed a motion condemning tlif liostile attitude of the president and executive of the Amalgamated oiPty of Railway Servants towards the aims of the Enigne-driverß, Firemen ami Gleaners' Association, aud mflinbera pledged-themselves in every Way to support their own Council, ,already representing over 70 per oent of the loootnotive staff, as the only Association calculated to further their interest and as the only one in which they have any confidence. Oliristohnroh, Last Night. At the first annnal celebration of the Canterbury branch of the Enginedrivers, Firemen and Oleauers' Association ou Satnrday evening it was reported that a depntatiou met the Hon. Millar that evening and had a satisfactory interview regarding the position of fclio Association. It is nnderatood the Minister will consider the claim of the Association to be legally reoognised when it lias 1000 members. At present it has 1)60 and it is expeoted the balanco will be obtained in the North Island soon.
