The Times says that in foroing Russia to recognise the annexation by Austria of Boßnia and Herzegovina Germany has taken advantage of Russia's unpreparedness to pnt a pistol to her head and compel her to abandon her traditional polioy in thp Near Eaßt.
The Pall" Mall Gazette oomments on the speotaole of the creator of the Hague Peace Conference constrained to oondone a glaring illegality under a threat of instant war. It adds: "Berlin has supported Vienna in order that Teuton and not Slav influence may prevail in South-eastern Europe. ;it is a repayment for Austria's help at the Algeciras Conference and demonstrates that Germany's isolation may prove costly to those Powerß which refuse to become the tools of German polioy."
