EMPIRE DAY CELEBRATIONS.
AN AFFRONTED CADET. " SALUTES WITH CHINESE CRACKERS." London, Yesterday. Ewpiro Day was celebrated yesterday by the display of ruany flags, and thousands of pulpit references were -uade in the London ana provincial churches. There were many signs of popular dissatisfaction at tho Government refusal to officially recognise the day. Sydney, Yesterday. The celebrations included illuminations of tho warships. j At Parramatta School, where the children delivered speeches, one cadet complained that insufficient ammunition was provided to salute the flag, and it had to be done with Chinese crackers. "We cadets are getting pretty disheartened," said the lad. The day was enthusiastically cele* brated in other States.
