THE PROGRESS OF FEILDING.
Wβ have to heartily congratulate onr Feilding friends on the carrying of the loan proposals yesterday by such substantial majorities. It, |s often difficult to get ratepayers. to the poll for tne most desirable propositions, but in Feilding just now tbere is evidently a strong civio sense which should accomplish much for the town. Feilding has for some time past been showing unmistakeable signs of progress. Its streets are becoming increasingly [[imposing by reason of the excellent type of building that is being erected, and there is an evident air of enterprise in the community. The £'21,000 which yesterday's poll authorised will tend stilL,further to emphasise this spirit of progress. The construction of an up-to-date bridge in Manchester street, the improvement of the paths, and of the entrance to the town (a thing that too many towns lose sight of, and first impressions count for a good deal), and the erection of public bath 9, aTe all projects that will materially improve Feilding. The sewerage extension was of course necessary also. In the matter of the baths it would seem that Feilding will be ahead of Palmerston for the project here is still in the stage of discussion, and will be, even if adoped, still on paper when Feilding,s are in conrse of erection. The civic spirit shown yesterday bodes well for progress and we have also to congratulate Mr Trewin on the confidence shown in him by his nomination unopposed for a third term in the Mayoralty.
