CARGO BROACHING.
Press Association. Christchurch, January 28. A very serious case of broaching cargo was brought to light at Lyttelton yesterday, and the prompt action of the police and the Customs officials resulted in the arrest of seven firemen belonging to the steamer Papanui on a chargo of stealing from cases in the ship's hold a large quantity of goods valued at over £UO. The men appeared before the Magistrate's Court to-day and were remanded till February sth. *
