MONDAY. (Before Mr A. D. Thomson, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Arthur Hamilton and George Gilbert, on charges of being found drunk in a public place, were convicted and discharge 1. A RED-BEARDED MAN WANTED. Information had been laid by Charles Steward as to an alleged assault by Aleaxnder Orozier. The plaintiff is now in the hospital suffering from wounds sustained in the assault. He. had described his I assailant as a man with a red beard and whiskers. As this did not fit in with the appearance of Orozier the case was dismissed. PROHIBITION ORDER. A v prohibition" ordar was granted against Robert Henderson on his own application. lt LAYING A DRAIN WITHOUT A PERMIT. Peter Schlager was charged with laying a drain in Palmerston without a permit. Hβ was fined 5s and 7s costs. BRADLEY IS "SOOTTY." Information was laid by Walter Ridgeway as to an alleged assault by "Scotty" Bradley. Evidence was given by Dr. Martin that he had examined the informant and found braises on the left side and also a bleeding nose. This was some days after the incident and the injuries were not then serious. Ridgeway deposed that Bradley had caught him by the throat and thrown him on the pavement, and punched him. This happened soon after the Feilding races. Bradley said he had acted in selfdefence, Ridgeway having scratched him in the face first. He was fined 10s and costs £2 6s.
